MISSION
STATEMENT AND GOALS
he
New York Association on HIV Over Fifty (NYAHOF) was formed in 1991
to address issues related to HIV/AIDS and older adults. Its purpose
is to ensure that the concerns of persons over the age of fifty
and their support networks are addressed, and to generate educational,
programmatic, and policy initiatives in the field of aging.
NYAHOF’s members are healthcare and social service providers, consumers,
persons living with HIV/AIDS, and others concerned about the epidemic’s
impact on people over the age of fifty. NYAHOF is an all-volunteer
task force with no paid staff.
NYAHOF’s GOALS
Promotion
of understanding in the community of the social,
economic, and political impact of the HIV epidemic on persons over
fifty, highlighting prevention strategies.

fifty and people with HIV, and ensure appropriate access to funding
and services.
Fostering
the exchange of skills and knowledge in the area
of HIV and aging among healthcare agencies, advocacy groups, and
others.

and encouragement of appropriate policies, education,
training, and research to respond to the special needs of HIV-positive
